Easter Break Checklist

Easter Break Checklist

Make Sure Your Kids Are Happy Campers This Easter

The Easter break’s nearly upon us and for many families it’s the first opportunity to get away in the caravan or motorhome. Most campsites and attractions will have opened their gates for the new season. All we need now is a bit of decent weather.

Of course, the happiest family holidays tend to be the ones where everyone is happy, so as well as carrying out your technical pre-departure checks, how about planning a few things to keep the kids, and especially teens, on board.

Here are some survival tips!

Give Kids Their Space

When you think about it, there are few times of the year when you’ll all be living in quite such close proximity and while ‘quality time together’ may sound ideal, there’ll probably be occasions when you could all do with a bit of elbow room.

An awning provides fantastic extra space for music, private conversions and gaming. Pitching one doesn’t have to be an ordeal if you go for one of our fantastic Prima Inflatable Awnings, some of which can incorporate annex bedrooms either side.

Let Them Stretch Out

Does your young person have a favourite settee for mobile phonery or watching TV? Well you can recreate that home comfort for them and preserve your camping space with our aptly named Lazy LoungerAvailable in a range of funky colours, these light, tough sofa substitutes self-inflate in seconds and come with a handy carrying bag, making them perfect for the awning or beach.

Relax with our folding camping chairs and tables in your awning and enjoy the longer evenings!

The Gift Of The Internet

Sure, a digital detox would be ideal, but if you’re stuck inside, say due to tragic British weather, you might be glad to have Mr Google in reserve. Your campsite may provide Wi-Fi, but it could well be slow, patchy and even expensive if they charge you by the megabyte.

One option is to be self-sufficient and have your own 4G broadband Wi-Fi router on board. EE scores highly for UK coverage and we’re now carrying the EE mini and EE Buzzard (in-car) dongles online and in-store. You can choose from a range of 30-day and annual data plans or pay as you go.

Add Old School TV and DVD

Mobile broadband is fine for Instagram or general web-surfing, but you’ll chew through a lot of your data package if you start streaming multiple films in high def. There’s still a big place on board for TV, DVD and USB. How about planning some family DVD film nights?

Not all TVs are made the same. We carry the Avtex range, which run off 12v, 24v or 230v, have wide viewing angles and are amazingly space-efficient, with DVD players, USB ports and, on some models, satellite receivers built-in.

How About Some Even Older School Pastimes?

Cards? Scrabble? Uno? Pictionary? Board games require no power supply or signal coverage and are fully compatible with family conversation, laughter and good-natured competition (on which subject, definitely leave the Monopoly board at home!).

We also have the Buzz Flexifoil kite in-store if you want to make the most of a good sea breeze. It’s an ideal introduction to kite aerobatics for the whole family, including beginners. It'll encourage everyone to go outdoors and make the most of it.

And Not Forgetting It’s Easter…

Many attractions around the UK run Easter-themed events, including Easter egg hunts for the kids (or you could stage one in your van for that freshly ransacked look). Food’s also a great child occupier. Pancakes anyone? Or egg painting? Or chocolate nest making?

Whatever you’re planning, we hope you and your family have a great Easter, with a fun-filled season to follow!
